![]() Again, Youtube can be helpful for that too, but there's plenty of list resources that will give you a whole bunch in one place. Once you get comfortable tracking, obviously you want to familiarize yourself with how to add plugins and how to use them (which is a beast that will take years no matter who you are), but once you're good at running a session, start looking up shortcuts like adding tracks, zoom controls, edit controls, fade controls, and so on, until eventually you barely touch a mouse when running a session. I'm sure there's a bunch of helpful and easy to understand videos to get you started. Get yourself on YouTube and check out videos that get you going quickly like how to create tracks, and how to get you I/O set so you can get yourself tracking. Pro Tools 110 This course builds on the introductory Pro Tools 101 course, evolving basic Pro Tools principles while providing the student with the essential processes needed to complete a Pro Tools project, from initial set up to final mixdown, and to take the Avid Pro Tools 110 User Certification exam. If you sit down and dedicate yourself you should actually be able to get through the book in a weekend. It will come with a download link for several exercises that cover each topic. Work through that book and all of its exercises and you'll be well on your way. I'd encourage you to get the pro tools 101 book which is the first step in the certification process and is one of the few avid books available on Amazon. And can definitely say the more time the better. I've dealt with people from very little computer experience to those that think they knew how to use pro tools. ![]() The extra minute it takes for you to search and use that shortcut will instill it in your brain and you'll catch on to memorizing them quicker. If you want to know shortcut keys go to the help menu before you do anything and open the shortcut PDF and search the operation your trying to perform. Challenge yourself and you'll learn the ins and outs. ![]() Try and do an entire midi production in pro tools. If you don't have sessions, download some off the internet. I'm a Pro Tools Certified expert instructor and have been teaching multiple levels of pro tools certification courses for several years now and I can tell you the best thing you can do is spend time in the software.
